So my sweet little baby boy has made his way up into my ribs! There are times when I have to lean to the left to make him some room in there. I feel like his leg is stuck up under my ribs and if I don't lean to the side I'll break his leg! I just didn't know he was that far up in my belly yet. I know my belly is getting very large, but seriously. We went and saw Ratatoiulle (how the heck do you spell that?) and I spent the whole movie at a slant to the side. I've heard preggos complain about having their baby "in my ribs" but until now I couldn't appreciate the discomfort and oddity of it all. He is also continuing to be a wild man and jump all around in there. My OB said to me last week " well, an active baby on the inside likely means a very active baby on the outside". Is that a good thing?
Holy Cow. I had my 26 week check up today. I really love hearing the baby's heart beat and getting measured and all that. The terrible, depressing, upsetting part of the visit is always the weigh in. I know pregnancy and weight gain go hand in hand. It's just hard to watch your body gain pounds by the week. I've always heard that the average weight gain should be 25-35lbs during a normal pregnancy. Well......that means I can only gain 10 more pounds in the next 14 weeks. The pure mathematics of it all doesn't really match up. Damn. I'm afraid of what my grand total might be. My mom only gained 12 pounds with me! I know that is pretty amazing/freakish in itself and it's impossible to live up to. Maybe I need to cut out my almost-nightly ice cream and fresh berries.
On a great note....baby is doing great and moving all around. He likes to wake me up in the morning with some sweet little kicks. He also loves to stomp on my bladder in the middle of work when I'm all scrubbed in for a surgical procedure and can't do anything about it! Little stinker.
We are still having issues deciding on a name for this little guy. Do we go with a name we've always liked? Find a new and exciting name? A name we like but we know our families might hate? Just such a hard decision.
Today is #25. I can't believe it. This little guy is on his way, fast. I just know this summer is going to fly by and he'll be here before we know it. I feel like I have so many things to buy and read about before he comes. I have 15 weeks to learn how in the heck to be a mommy.
I just started reading the book, Birthing From Within. I'm only a few pages in to it so far. I'm just searching for a way to find my inner strength to do this whole crazy birthing thing.
Here are the latest pictures of my every expanding middle!
Someone please tell me that my body actually needs about three extra meals per day, please. I feel so hungry. I guess I've just been kind of grazing but I feel like I'm going to get in to trouble if I don't stop it. Another problem I'm having is that I feel nauseated if I have an empty stomach so I eat. I'm trying to eat something like a hard boiled egg or a string cheese but there are the occastional blazin' buffalo ranch doritos too. I really, really, really need to start exercising on top of the frequent feasts. Jas and I took a walk along the river trail with Finley this afternoon. I just hate exercising by myself. If I can walk with someone and chat along the way I love to walk. I really need a workout buddy.
So I finally had to take out my belly button ring. I've had it since I was 19, 8 years! My cousin left hers in and she ended up with a purple scar up and down her belly. I'm taking her advise and taking it out before it becomes a problem. I can't believe my belly button is already kind of flattening out. I'm very much on my way to the old "turkey is done!" pop out button later in this pregnancy.
I'm 14 weeks tomorrow. Only 4 more weeks until the ultrasound to see if our little one is a he or a she. We finally found a girl name we love so now I'll take either!
So today is my 27th birthday and it's a great day. I feel good and my little booda belly is starting to pop out! I think part of it is really wanting to show, part of it is the foot long subway sandwich I had for lunch and part is actual belly. I'm definelty letting it all hang out and for once in my life not sucking it in. I bought some more maternity clothes yesterday as a present to myself and they are so comfortable. Nothing better than jeans with a stretchy waist band!
