Holy Cow. I had my 26 week check up today. I really love hearing the baby's heart beat and getting measured and all that. The terrible, depressing, upsetting part of the visit is always the weigh in. I know pregnancy and weight gain go hand in hand. It's just hard to watch your body gain pounds by the week. I've always heard that the average weight gain should be 25-35lbs during a normal pregnancy. Well......that means I can only gain 10 more pounds in the next 14 weeks. The pure mathematics of it all doesn't really match up. Damn. I'm afraid of what my grand total might be. My mom only gained 12 pounds with me! I know that is pretty amazing/freakish in itself and it's impossible to live up to. Maybe I need to cut out my almost-nightly ice cream and fresh berries.
On a great note....baby is doing great and moving all around. He likes to wake me up in the morning with some sweet little kicks. He also loves to stomp on my bladder in the middle of work when I'm all scrubbed in for a surgical procedure and can't do anything about it! Little stinker.
We are still having issues deciding on a name for this little guy. Do we go with a name we've always liked? Find a new and exciting name? A name we like but we know our families might hate? Just such a hard decision.
We just got back from a weekend at the coast. It was a nice weekend away from the city. We celebrated Sherry's 60th birthday in style at a great house near the beach. Finley loved the ocean and running on the beach in the soft sand.
My favorite picture......
Here is Grandma Sherry with the bellies.
The angle on this picture makes my 24 week belly look bigger than Anna's 30 week belly! I blame it on my dress/sweater combo. I'm afraid of how big I'm going to get.
I went to a prenatal yoga class with my sister-in-law, Anna, today. It was so great. It's such a neat thing to be in a room with so many other pregnant women. It's amazing to see how different all the bellies look. One girl was only about 2 weeks behind me and she just now is getting the tiniest belly. From my pictures you can see that is not my case! It was, as most yoga classes are, very earthy and focused on connecting your body and mind. The instructor is great and she often tells the class to "send love down to your babies". It's just such a cool thing. It really makes you relax and focus on your body and your baby. It made me really excited for my relaxation/hypnobirthing class that we signed up for through my hospital. If there is any chance I might be able to have a natural birth I better learn how to center and relax myself. We'll see!
So, this picture actually gives my belly the credit it deserves! The picture I posted last week did not. Or maybe it has just grown that much in one week!
We made our first big baby purchase this past week also. We bought a jogger stroller, the BOB Revolution. It's so great. We can even get a kit to make it so a car seat can just clip right in to it until the baby is older! We HOPE it may been the only stroller we need. We'll see though.
